Statement of Artistic Intention

My inspiration comes from my connection to the world, my relationships with others, and my relationship with myself. I don’t need to travel the planet or hire dancers to find a muse. My individual journey is inspiration enough.

This song was written in 2001 as a means of helping students handle their own grief, honor all of our heroes, and pay tribute to our legacy, the American spirit. Lyrics are by Patricia Brandon and music by Richard Vandiver, Sr.

Songwriters have a way of expressing what they are feeling by the lyrics and music they put in their songs. Just like millions of others, I was totally in shock at the tragedies of September 11, 2001.

2001 – 2009

Marcos Brinson is a flight attendant who like so many, lost friends and colleagues on 9/11. This is his 9/11 Tribute Single. All profits from the sale of the single go to the Twin Towers Orphan Fund.

The photographs were taken in June 2001 on a dank, dreary day from Ellis Island. My wife and myself were visiting the Island to research my Mother's history about her arriving as an immigrant in 1914 at the age of nine.

Like in New York, it was a perfect fall day in Richmond, Virginia, where I was working on September 11th. A coworker said, “Hey, come look at this,” and I joined him across the room to watch a TV newscast of the North Tower burning.

Artist Biography of Lynn Buckmaster 

As a native New Yorker, resident of Manhattan, and from a Staten Island FDNY family, September 11, 2001 and the months afterwards were a fog for me.

"I enjoy the versatility that paint has as a medium. It affords me the opportunity to look at the world around me, and re-create it in a different perspective using splashes of color and value.
