In recognition of Veterans Day, the 9/11 Memorial & Museum will offer discounted admission and host a series of special programs during a five-day Salute to Service. Throughout the tribute, all veterans, along with active and retired members of the U.S. military, will receive free admission to the 9/11 Memorial Museum. Veterans and members of the U.S. military will also receive half-price Museum tickets for two family members.

Salute to Service will kick off on Wednesday, November 8, with a special presentation in The Stories They Tell series titled “Strength & Honor: The Legacy of World Trade Center Steel,” and an evening program, “Theater of War,” an interactive public health initiative involving a dramatic reading of Sophocles’ “Ajax,” which addresses the visible and invisible wounds caused by war.

Other events during Salute to Service include a wreath laying at the Survivor Tree in honor of the U.S. Marine Corps 242nd birthday; GoRuck Light Challenge Run in coordination with New York City Veteran’s Day Parade; U.S. Navy reenlistment ceremony; and performances by the United States Air Force Heritage of America Band and the United States Air Force Honor Guard.

On Veterans Day, Team Red, White & Blue will place yellow roses on the 9/11 Memorial in the names of those killed on 9/11 who had served in the military. The tribute will conclude on Sunday, November 12, with activities for families that focus on themes of heroism and patriotism.
