Members of the British Army Rugby Union visited the 9/11 Memorial & Museum on Wednesday and were presented with Stars of Hope that were painted by children in response to recent terrorist attacks in England.

About 40 British soldiers, in town for a rugby match at West Point, graciously received the hand-painted stars with messages of hope as they stopped at the memorial’s bronze parapets before touring the museum.

The stars were recently created by visitors to the 9/11 Memorial Museum in response to the deadly attack in Manchester. In total, 22 Stars of Hope were painted by 77 people, including a family visiting from the United Kingdom.

“We are from England so have an emotional tie to events involving terror,” said one participant. “Children need to learn that terrorists will never win as love will always conquer.”
