The Lens: Capturing Life and Events at the 9/11 Memorial and Museum is a photography series devoted to documenting moments big and small that unfold at the 9/11 Memorial and Museum.
The View: Last week, the 9/11 Memorial & Museum welcomed three K-9 friends for a special tour. Whether it’s saving lives, lending sight or hearing to a human companion or providing a warm welcome home at the end of a hard day, Gander, Kobuk and Mango aren’t your average pups. They have been recognized by the American Humane Association’s Hero Dog Awards.
Recognizing the heroes on both ends of the leash, the American Humane Association Hero Dog Awards is a celebration of our four-legged friends and the innumerable ways they enrich, protect and save lives every day. Dogs may be nominated for a Hero Dog Award in one of eight categories: Law Enforcement & Arson Dogs, Service Dogs, Therapy Dogs, Military Dogs, Guide Dogs, Search and Rescue Dogs, Hearing Dogs and Emerging Hero Dogs.
