K-9 Courage Family Day

Join us for a family-friendly K-9 festival celebrating the opening of our new special exhibition, K-9 Courage. The exhibition explores the diverse contributions of dogs to the rescue and recovery efforts after 9/11. This multi-hour, drop-in event features tours of the exhibition, dog-themed crafts and activities for families, special film screenings, and working dog demonstrations. 

Participation in this program is free with the purchase of Museum admission. Museum admission for children 12 and under is free from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Advance reservation is strongly encouraged.

Please be advised that visitors may not bring dogs into the Museum, with the exception of service animals.

This program is presented in conjunction with the Museum’s special exhibition, K-9 Courage.

A K-9 team from TSA will demonstrate how they keep passengers and cargo safe.

Port Authority Police Department
Schedule: 12:15 p.m. and 3:15 p.m.

A K-9 team from the PAPD will demonstrate how they protect Port Authority sites.

New York Police Department
Schedule: 2:15 p.m.

A K-9 team from the NYPD will demonstrate how they keep New York City safe.

Film Screening: Superpower Dogs
Schedule: 11:30 a.m.
Follow six dogs and their human partners as they brave earthquakes and avalanches, protect endangered species, and help people with special needs (47 minutes).

Come meet the FDNY mascots, Hot Dog and Siren, and learn about fire and life safety from the FDNY Fire Safety Education Unit.

Join us for free drop-in activities that connect to the new exhibition K-9 Courage. Learn about the role of dogs in the aftermath of 9/11 and create individual artistic tributes to honor these special responders.
