The New York Giants visited the 9/11 Memorial and Museum on Wednesday, Aug. 20, where players toured the museum and heard testimonials about 9/11.
The Giants came to the memorial and museum after their Wednesday practice in East Rutherford. In the auditorium before the tour, 9/11 Memorial President Joe Daniels and Joe Quinn, Team RWB Northeast Regional Director, told stories of their own experiences on 9/11. Quinn was a West Point cadet at the time, and his brother died in the attack on the World Trade Center.
Giants owner Jonathan Tisch, who for nearly six years served as chairman of NYC & Company, the city’s tourism marketing agency and visitors bureau, also spoke to the players about reviving tourism and travel through the area after 9/11.
After touring the museum, some players shared their reactions on Twitter:
William Beatty (@willbeatty65): “Today I reminded of the strength of my great country. We are strong b/c we stand as one when it counts.”
Devon Kennard (@DevonKennard): “Glad I had the chance to visit the 9/11 memorial w/ my teammates. Great reminder of the resiliency of this great city & country! #NYC #USA”
John Conner (@JCONNER38): “Had an amazing time visiting the 9/11 museum today. Unforgettable experience”
