Charged with 11 counts, Ramzi Yousef enters a plea of not guilty in his first appearance in federal district court in New York City. He faces two separate trials: one for his involvement in the Bojinka plot and one for the 1993 World Trade Center bombing. In opening statements during the World Trade Center bombing trial, prosecutors tell the jury that Yousef wanted to “send a message to Americans that they were at war.”
