These tears that water up my eyes
are for our heroes in the sky
For on that faithful September day
they meant to journey far away
To a place they had in heart and mind
to a mission they would not seek but find
Peaceful Autumn sky so clear and blue
no clouds of grey, or morning dew
City, nation and field of green
would play the stage of an act so mean
Plane and tower merge to suffer
Prayer and hope the only buffer
All stunned below watch and gaze
at the fueled infernal blaze
We see the inconceivable, still today the unbelievable
Camera’s eye captures hate at work
The heat intense would not lay dormant
The spirit within cools the torment
How to save our friends and loved ones
from the evil act so lowsome
The answer beckons in our hearts
though in the body we are apart
God great, thou art our creator
hear our heartfelt prayers now not later
Bring us peace to know your truth
restore their lives to eternal youth
We know you love them even more than we
Your mercy, power and kindness let them see
Show the world your Fatherly love
Let those we lost and still love, be raised to live with you above
For when with you they’ll have no bother
They’ll make you smile and call you Father
But those you damn shall be condemned
to burn in fire that knows no end
While those you love remain at your side
and shall forever more with you abide
Lord God thou art most holy
forgive me if I speak too boldly
So once again I plea to thee
one day again my love I’ll see
My heart assures me you’ve heard my prayer
For you have said, call upon me, and I shall be there.
