Maajid Nawaz, an ex-member of an Islamist extremist group, on April 28 took part in the 9/11 Memorial's "9/11, Today and Tomorrow” speakers series at the 9/11 Memorial Preview Site, 20 Vesey St. WNET THIRTEEN's Daniel T. Allen filmed Nawaz's presentation and wrote about it for "State Room."

Nawaz is a former a high-ranking member of the Islamist group Hizb ut-Tahrir and spent four years in an Egyptian prison for his affiliation with the group. He emerged to help establish the Quillium Foundation, the world’s first counter-extremism think tank, where he serves as executive director. By Michael Frazier, Director of Communications for the 9/11 Memorial
